Abstract

1405922 Workmen's time recorders J SCHLENKER-GRUSEN 8 Sept 1972 [11 Sept 1971] 41882/72 Heading G4T [Also in Division B6] Relates to details of a printing unit for use in the time recorder disclosed in Specification 1,392,507. The time printing wheels 6a, which are indexed by a clock mechanism 47, are mounted in a frame 42, which is pivotable about a shaft 46 from the home position shown to a printing position by a solenoid 48 acting on a toggle linkage 50a, 50b. Printing occurs shortly before reaching the dead centre position of the toggle and a microswitch 53 is actuated at this point to emit a "printing effected" signal. After de-energization of the solenoid 48, the frame 42 is returned to itshome position by either gravity or springs. A bi-coloured inked ribbon 52 is located in front of the type wheels 6a by springs 68 carried by a frame 69 pivotable about shaft 43b. In the position shown, the upper half 52a of the ribbon is operative. Energization of a solenoid 73 pivots a lever 74 about shaft 70 to pivot the frame 69 and render the lower half 52b of the ribbon operative. Solenoids 48, 73 may be replaced by hydraulic or pneumatic cylinders.
