Abstract
1405192 Removing copper ions from waste water HOUSEMAN & DIRKZWAGER BV 17 April 1973 [19 May 1972] 18417/63 Heading C1C Copper ions in solution in an aqueous medium are removed by introducing an excess of NH 3 into the aqueous medium, adjusting the pH of the ammoniacal solution to at least 10, intoducing a reducing agent (e.g. hydrazine) into the solution to form a copper-containing sludge and separating the sludge from the solution. Further copper ions may be removed by passing the solution separated from the sludge through activated carbon. The treatment is specified for the liquors obtained when clearing deposits from high-pressure steam boilers.
