Abstract

1404747 Disc refiners BOLTONEMERSON INC 30 March 1974 14215/74 Heading B2A A double disc refiner has stock inlets 30 at opposite sides respectively feeding to the space between each disc pair, and each inlet includes a chamber 34 with a sloping outer or back wall 36 which is of helical configuration. Stock feed is tangential, and thus the stock has components of rotational and axial flow. Since both chambers are mirror images of each other, stock flow has the same rotational direction around a cylindrical coaxial plug 38 in each chamber. The refiner shaft 26 passes through bearing 28 mounted in one of the plugs.
