Abstract

1404567 Lubricant TEXACO DEVELOPMENT CORP 6 July 1973 32314/73 Heading C5F [Also in Division C2] A lubricating oil composition comprises a major amount of a hydrocarbon lubricating oil containing 0À1-10 wt. per cent of a tetra-tdodecylmercaptan-p-benzoquinone. The base oil may be a mineral oil, e.g. naphthenic or paraffinic oil, or a synthetic base, e.g. polypropylene or polybutene. Other additives may be present, e.g. ethoxylated, hydrolysed polybutene-P 2 S 5 reaction product, overbased Ca petroleum sulphonate, dodecyl methacrylateoctadecyl methacrylate copolymer and polysilicones.
