Abstract

1403631 Variable contrast photographic silver halide materials AGFA-GEVAERT AG 14 Sept 1973 [16 Sept 1972] 43200/73 Heading G2C Light-sensitive photographic material comprising at least one silver halide emulsion layer of which the gradation depends on the wavelength of light to which it is exposed, contains as a binder for said layer a composition comprising per 100 parts by weight. i) 40 to 90 parts of gelatine, ii) 10 to 60 parts of a water-insoluble dispersed synthetic polymer or copolymer of a vinyl compound, and iii) 0.05 to 3 parts of polyvinyl pyrrolidone or 0.05 to 15 parts of a copolymer of vinyl pyrrolidone with another vinyl compound or 0.05 to 15 parts of polyvinyl pyrrolidone in which one hydrogen atom attached to the pyrrolidine ring has been replaced by alkyl or aryl which may be substituted. The emulsion may comprise an unsensitized silver iodobromide emulsion mixed with a green-sensitized silver chlorobromide emulsion. The material is used in the production of reflection copies whoe gradation curve is substantially rectilinear in the density range of 1.0 to 1.7.
