Abstract
1403556 Solvent separation of hydrocarbons LINDE AG 26 Sept 1972 [1 Oct 1971] 44323/72 Heading C5E Methyl acetylene and/or propadiene is separated from a C 3 -fraction mixture containing the same and propylene and/or propane by selectively absorbing the methyl acetylene and/ or propadiene in a polar organic solvent, e.g. dimethyl formamide or N-methyl pyrrolidone at a temperature at which the ratio of the solubility of propadiene or methylacetylene in the solvent to the solubility of propylene or propane sterein is at a maximum for the absorption pressure used or does not differ from said maximum by more than 5%. Absorption in the required temperature range is assumed by carrying it out at a temperature between 30‹ and 40‹ C. higher than the condensation temperature of the C 3 -fraction. The absorption pressure may be carried out at 2 atmos. absolute or above.
