Abstract

1402862 Photographic direct-positive silver halide emulsion KODAK Ltd 26 Oct 1972 [28 Oct 1971] 50168/71 Addition to 1201792 Heading G2C A direct-positive silver halide emulsion is made by forming silver halide grains in the presence of a bismuth salt at a pH of 0 to 5, adding a mercury compound to the emulsion prior to fogging and thereafter fogging the grains so formed. The bismuth salt may be bismuth nitrate. The mercury compound may be a simple inorganic salt or a molecular compound of a mercuric salt with an organic compound containing a basic N atom e.g. (2-amino-5-iodopyridine hydroiodide) 2 HgI 2 . This emulsion has an increased exposure scale.
