140,276. Page, F. H. July 4, 1916. Land-wheels. - An aeroplane landing-carriage comprises a pair of wheels 1 mounted on an axle 2 which is divided and pivoted at 3, Fig. 3, and connected at each end at a point inside the wheels to the forward end of an horizontal member 4 by struts 8. At a point outside the wheel, a shock-absorber 9 is fitted, preferably vertically, between the axle and the main frame of the machine. Pairs of inclined struts 5, 6, 7 connect the ends of the member 4 to the framework. In two-engined machines, a pair of such carriages may be so arranged that their inner wheels come beneath the fuselage, and their outer wheels below the respective engines.
