Abstract
1402520 Change-speed control ZAHNRADFABRIK FRIEDRICHSHAFEN AG 11 April 1974 [12 April 1973] 16398/74 Heading F2D A gate-type ratio-selector assembly, which can be assembled before installation in the casing of a four-speed and reverse transmission on a motor vehicle, comprises a single fixed rod 6 on which slide 1-2 and 3-4 selectors, constituted respectively by parts 7, 71, 72 and 8, 81, 82, having recesses 74, 84 for selective engagement by a lowest first step 41 of a universally mounted shift lever 3, a rocker 9 for reverse being pivoted on the 1-2 selector 7 for ineffective movement therewith, reverse being established through a roller 91 and slide (not described) by pivoting the rocker 9 on the selector 7 through a second step 41 on the shift lever 3, the selectors being interlocked as follows. Turning with the shift lever 3 in its cross shift selecting movement is an axially fixed interlock cage 5 in the form of a gimbal mounting for the shift lever 3, pivoting about an axis 52, and having depending fingers 10, 11, the former, 10, engaging a recess 92 in the reverse rocker 9, thereby locking both the reverse rocker 9 and the 1-2 selector 7 when the shift lever 3 is pivoted counterclockwise (Fig. 3) for its first step 41 to engage the recess 84 of the 3-4 selector 8; whilst in a central neutral position, with the first step 41 on the lever 3 engaging the recess 74 of the 1-2 selector 7, the reverse rocker 9 is locked to the 1-2 selector for ineffective bodily movement therewith by the second step 42 on the lever 3 engaging between shoulders 93 on the reverse rocker 9. Pivoted clockwise to the reverse channel the finger 11 of the interlock cage engages in and locks the recesses 74, 84 of both selectors 7, 8, the second lever step 42 moves deeper into the shoulders 93 of the reverse rocker 9, whilst the first lever step 41 leaves the recess 74 of the 1-2 selector 7, thereby facing the rocker 9 from the selector 7, and permitting establishment of reverse, by pivotal movement of the rocker 9 on the selector 7. Ball detents 73, 83 position the selectors 7, 8, on the fixed rod 6, and 95 the reverse rocker on the 1-2 selector 7.
