Abstract

1402489 Tunnelling machine cutter tools EDMUND NUTTALL Ltd 7 Jan 1974 [19 April 1973] 19044/73 Heading E1F A cutting tool for mounting in a cutting head of a tunnelling machine comprises a casing 4 adapted to be received by a portion' 8 of the cutting head, a cutter element 1 having a shank 3 so received within the casing as to allow the element to rock relative to the casing and elastomeric material 6 disposed between the shank and the casing so as to allow the element to rock whilst preventing ingress of material into the casing. Preferably the material is natural or synthetic rubber, the element has a double sided chisel point type head 2 and rocks about a pivot pin 5 mounted in the casing, which has a flange 7 for locating it in a receiving socket of a cutting arm of the head.
