Abstract

1402355 Mixing liquids & gases KOHLENSAUREWERKE C G ROMMENHOLLER GmbH 17 Jan 1973 [11 Sept 1972] 2413/73 Heading B1C A method of preparing a gaseous reactant for the production of foundry moulds and cores comprises injecting a liquid component such as triethylamine at a pressure of 2 kp/sq cm through an injection nozzle 2 into a lower region 1 of a vapourising device and metering during the injection time, at the same time introducing CO 2 into the region 1 by a nozzle 12 at a pressure of 5 kp/sq cm at 45‹C, the two constituents being intimately mixed by turbulence in a chamber 14 to form a vapour-gas mixture which passes through a saturating zone 15 and a back pressure zone 16 into a tions were adjusted by the addition of CO 2 through a nozzle 13 which starts its operation at the same time as the injection nozzle 2. The mixing nozzle 13 is controlled by way of a throttle valve and the gaseous reactant is subsequently passed through a compensating chamber 18 within an upper cylinder 9 and through a buffer zone 19 to an outlet 11 in the cylinder 9 where the gas is withdrawn and supplied through a pipe to the core gassing apparatus (not shown). Magnetic valves 22, 23 are used in the actuation of the nozzles 2, 12 and 13, the valves being simultaneously opened by a coil by the action of a time relay.
