Abstract
1,129,726. Raising liquids by gas pressure. DORTMUNDHORDER HUTTENUNION AG. July 19, 1967 [Aug. 10, 1966], No. 33248/67. Heading F1R. [Also in Division C7] A device for introducing additives to a vessel for vacuum degassing molten steel comprises a reservoir provided with heating means, a siphon outlet which is connectable to the degassing vessel, and a three way valve, one way of which communicates with the degassing vessel, one with the vacuum line, and one with a source of gas pressure, As illustrated, reservoir 1 having induction heating coil 8 is charged with additive 9 and connected initially through valve 7 to line 5. The additive may then at the appropriate time be introduced by applying gas or air pressure through line 10; the amount may be controlled by metering the amount of gas admitted.
