Abstract

1402028 Roller skates ETAB ROLL-RINK LAROCHE J CHEVAUX & CIE 18 Sept 1972 43145/72 Heading A6D A roller skate includes a frame 1 and three or more wheels 3 disposed in line one behind another, the wheels being equidistantly spaced with their axes so positioned that a line tangential to a pair of adjacent wheels is at an angle greater than zero to a line tangential to the next pair of adjacent wheels each wheel comprising a shaped block of synthetic plastics material which retains, about its circumference at least one ring element of hardened steel. Some of the wheels may be adjustable in position relative to the frame for fixing them in a desired position. The wheels 3 may be of roller bearing construction and mounted on axles 4 adjustable in slots 6 in side limbs of frame 1 and secured in position by lockable nuts 5. The frame 1 can be fixed to the sole of a boot by rivets 2 and the leading edge 7 of the frame 1 may be serrated to assist starting and stopping. Fig 9 shows another construction of wheel which consists of a hardened steel ring 14 mounted in a block of hard moulded plastics material carrying bearing assemblies 18. The periphery of the ring 14 can be grooved to define two axially spaced apart sharp edges 17. Such a wheel may incorporate driving teeth for use with means to sharpen the edges. The skate can be used on any hard surface including ice.
