1401468 Automatic control GES ZUR FORDERUNG DER FORSCHUNG AN DER EIDGENOSSISCHEN TECHNISCHEN HOCHSCHULE 24 Oct 1972 [19 Nov 1971] 48907/72 Heading G3N [Also in Division H5] The temperature gradient of a tubular heating element 5 is varied by a metallic layer 3 of copper, silver &c. of variable thickness deposited by vacuum vapour coating or galvanically on a uniformly thick inner tube 1. An external protective tube may be added by hammering or drawing on. Fig. 2 shows a system for galvanically depositing silver from a silver cyanide electrolyte 7 in chamber 9 using an annulus silver electrode 11. The tube 1 is rotatably supported on a frame 21 in a bath 19 and the chamber 9 is driven along the tube, the rate of deposition being inversely proportional to the speed of travel. This speed is controlled via the motor 15 by frequency tones produced for example by a tape carrying a recorded programme.
