Abstract

1,104,704. Electrode constructions. SANKYO CO. Ltd. March 23, 1965 [March 26, 1964], No. 12336/65. Heading G1N. A polarographic micro-electrode consists of a thin film 6, Fig. 2a deposited on an insulating body, 5, and covered with further insulating material, 7, so that only a single end section of the film is exposed for use as the electrode. The film may be platinum, gold, silver, or carbon, and the insulating body and material of glass, porcelain, or a plastics material. The film is deposited by vacuum deposition, thermal decomposition, electro-deposition, or rolling. The electrode film may alternatively be in the form of a vacuum deposited layer (10, Fig. 3a not shown), on a soda-lime glass cylindrical substrate (9), with an outer lead glass cylinder (11), thermally welded around it. A platinum lead-out wire (12) is embedded in the substrate (9).
