Abstract

1401316 Mechanical switches BUNKER RAMO CORP 19 Sept 1972 [1 Nov 1971] 43381/72 Heading H1N In a push button switch 10, Fig. 3, adapted for removably mounting on a printed circuit board 12, the plunger 30 which is non-rotatably slidable in guideways 24 carries at least three electrically connected contact elements 52, 54, Fig. 6, engageable with different fixed contact points 68, 70 on the board. The switch is particularly adapted for coding purposes, the two elements 52 first engaging predetermined row and column contacts 68 connected to a character coder (80), Fig. 7 (not shown), while the element 54 is recessed so that it engages a common contact 70 only after the other contacts have closed, thereby avoiding spurious signals. The movement of the plunger 30 between closure of the contacts 52 and 54 results in a sliding and cleaning movement of the contacts 52 on the fixed contacts 68. The switch housing 14 is mounted on the board 12 by a pair of integral posts 60A (60B), Fig. 2 (not shown), inserted through apertures 64A (64B) in the board and carrying spring clips 62 angled as at 66 to hold the housing 14 in position while permitting the housing to be forcibly removed. Projections 72, 74 on the board 12 are the same height as the printed circuit strips 68, 70 for engagement by the housing 14 to prevent rocking on the board 12.
