Abstract

1400639 Stands for optical instruments CONTRAVES AG 11 July 1973 [18 Aug 1972] 33057/73 Heading A4H [Also in Division G2] An adjustable support for an optical instrument, e.g. a telescope, binocular microscope, or television camera, comprises a vertical support column 11, 12 carried by floor or ceiling supports 10, 10<SP>1</SP>, on which is pivotable, about vertical or horizontal axes A1, A2 at lockable bearings BL1, BL2 a balance beam 14 with an adjustable weight Ga at one end and at the other end lockable bearings BL3, BL4 for pivoting an intermediate carrier beam 15 about perpendicular axes A3, A4. A3 being parallel with A2, and beam 15 having an adjustable weight Gb at one end and being pivotally connected at the other end to an instrument carrier P, M. The part P comprises an articulated parallelogram a1-a3 lockably pivoted at bearing BL5 and having a carrier M with lockable bearing BL6, a handle Hm, and switch Sm which when "on" releases all bearings BL1-BL6 and when "off" magnetically locks all the bearings to hold the instrument on carrier M in its adjusted position. Column 12 is also vertically adjustable in column 11.
