1400260 Load handling pallet A SCHOELLER 22 June 1972 [22 June 1971] 29319/72 Heading B8H A load handling pallet is formed of a series of pairs of moulded plastics bars assembled to form a grid with an encircling rim 68 to retain a load on the pallet and strip-like protuberances 74, 80 to cant a load towards the centre of the pallet. A first pair of bars I form an opposed pair of sides of the pallet and have spigots 12 at their ends to engage in sockets 14 formed at the ends of a second pair of bars III forming the other opposed sides of the pallet. The bars I, III each have a pair of sockets 22, 16 at their mid-point to receive the respective spigots 26, 18 on the ends of respective pairs of bars II, IV. The bars intersect at the middle of the pallet and each has a recess 28, 32 to receive the other such that the load support surface of the bars lie in the same plane. Each bar has an upper and a lower deck 50, 52 each comprised of an upper and a lower skin (82), (84), Fig. 7 (not shown), connected by a longitudinal web 58 and a plurality of transverse webs (88) extending on both sides of the web 58. In the region of the spigots and the recesses the skins are displaced to a different horizontal plane, but retain their relative spacing.
