Abstract

1399714 Thermal switches DANFOSS AS 8 June 1972 [8 June 1971] 26778/72 Heading H1N A snap action switch includes a pivoted (about pivot 3) lever 1 biased to one limit position (against stop 22) by an adjustable control spring 26 (to vary the operating temperature) and a transducer 17 (bellows) for urging lever 1 towards a second limit position (against stop 10) and having a non-linear input/output characteristic such that the torque applied to lever 1 thereby varies non-linearly with variation in an input quantity supplied to the transducer 17 and at a rate which varies progressively with variation in the input quantity, and a snap spring 2 with a negative spring rate. Control spring 26 compensates for the variation in pick-up/drop-off differential of the switch at different settings of the spring 26 due to the non- linearity in the transducer 17 input/output characteristic by exerting its force on lever 1 at an angle substantially less than 90 degrees relative to lever 1.
