Abstract

1398789 Planting seedlings M C ATTWOOD 10 Aug 1973 [10 Aug 1972] 37309/72 Heading AID [Also in Division B7] A device for planting, e.g. seedlings, comprises a wheeled frame 1 which supports a pivoted arm 4 upon which are mounted a bifurcated furrow share 5, a pair of rollers 7, which fill in the formed furrow, and an operator's seat 6. Seedlings are stored for hand planting on sub frame 19. The device is driven by the drive unit 21 of a cultivator 20 by rear wheels 23 and the operator steers by means of his feet on front wheel stub shaft sleeves 13. The front wheels 8 are linked to remain parallel whilst the rear drive wheels 23 may be ratchet wheels for forward drive only. The pivot point for the arm 4 can be adjusted vertically on a post 3. Side arm 17 marks the ground for the subsequent furrow. The device is turned either by pulling on lever 14 or by pivoting upwardly or turning from the rear about the drive wheels. During turning the arm 4 is held raised by slide bar 27.
