Abstract

1398296 Vehicle seat slides UNIVERSAL OIL PRODUCTS CO 11 Oct 1972 46838/72 Heading A4J [Also in Division F2] A slide rail assembly Fig. 3 for a vehicle seat comprises a track 11, two rollers 16, 17 joined by an axle 18 and engageable with said track, a mounting flange 21 extending parallel to and between said rollers and having an aperture 24 therein through which said axle passes, and a pivot pin 19 mounted in the mounting flange on both sides of the aperture and in a direction parallel to the path of motion, said pivot pin passing transversely through the axle so as to pivotally support it for rocking movement. The vehicle seat is secured to a pair of tracks 11, Fig. 1, connected by a cross-member 25 via torsionally-yieldable joints 29. The member 25 slides on a bar 32 and is resiliently attached to it by springs 30. However, operation of a lever 38 causes a catch (not shown) to lock the member 25 rigidly to the bar 32. The longitudinal position of the bar with respect to the base on which the assembly is mounted may be altered after a rack and detent mechanism 35 has been released by movement of a handle 23.
