Abstract

1396860 Floor sweepers HUKUBA FUTURE RESEARCH KK 28 Jan 1974 [29 Jan 1973] 03761/74 Heading A4F A floor sweeper has a housing 2 enclosing a brush 7 having an operative surface capable of a sweeping movement relative to the housing in a direction transverse to the direction of travel of the housing 2 as defined by supporting wheels 6; the dust swept by the brush 7 being collected in at least one dust receiver 8 in the housing 2, which also encloses brush driving mechanism. The illustrated brush 7 is provided on an endless belt mounted on rollers 14 one of which is driven from the wheels 6 via gearing 15, 17. Depending on the direction of movement of the sweeper dust is swept by the brush 7 over either of two plates 9 into one of two dust receivers 8 at the sides of the machine. Rubber or plastics rollers 11 in front of and behind the brush 7 co-operate with the plates 7 to enclose the brush. In another embodiment a single dust receiving chamber 8a, Fig.6 (not shown), at one end of the sweeper receives dust deflected therein by either of two deflecting plates (23). A further embodiment has two brushes 7b, 7b<SP>1</SP>, Fig.9 (not shown), and four dust receiving chambers. In other embodiments two roller brushes or a roller brush may replace the brush belt 7, and all brush constructions may alternatively be driven by an electric motor.
