Abstract

1293873 Carpet and other sweepers LEIFHEIT INTERNATIONAL GœNTER LEIFHEIT K G 18 Feb 1970 [21 Feb 1969] 7839/70 Heading A4F In a carpet or other sweeper comprising a housing including dust-collecting chambers and containing at least one brush roller drivable by runner wheels and disposed between dust collecting chambers, the brush roller or rollers and the runner wheels are mounted in mounting corners as a sub-assembly in the form of a structural unit which can be inserted into and removed from the housing. At each end the brush roller 51 of a carpet sweeper has a drive wheel 58, disposed between and drivable by a pair of runner wheels 59, and is mounted on a pin 56 on a U-shaped mounting element 55, 60 vertically slidable on a frame member 53 of a mounting carrier 52 Fig.13 (not shown). The runner wheels 59 are mounted in inclined slots in the carriers 52, and the assembly comprising the parts 51, (52), 58, 59, 55, 60 is inserted as a single unit into a housing 50 and locked therein by the engagement of pins 64 Fig.13 (not shown) on the carriers 52 in recesses in the housing 50. A yoke 62 bearing on lugs 61 on the mounting elements 55, 60 is adjustable to vary the height of the brush roller 51. In another embodiment which may be alternatively dimensioned as a carpet sweeper, or as a table sweeper, the mounting carriers 17 Fig.4 (not shown) have recessed resilient tongues for locking engagement with projections on the housing. This embodiment also has two auxiliary brush rollers arranged one at each side of a main brush roller.
