Abstract

1396679 Coin feed time switch WELWYN ELECTRIC Ltd 26 Nov 1973 54776/73 Heading G4V [Also in Division H2] A synchronous motor 3 is controlled by a circuit comprising a transformer and rectifier 7. connected to a fixed frequency supply 6 and supplying an oscillator 8 which feeds the motor through a power amplifier 10, a member 9 such as a variable resistor or capacitor being adjustable to set the oscillator frequency to a desired value and hence operate the motor at a desired speed. The motor is part of a coin freed machine of the type wherein insertion of one or more coins momentarily closes contacts 2 to start the motor, after which a motor-operated cam 4 closes contacts 5 to energize the motor for a predetermined time corresponding to the number of coins inserted, the cam opening the contacts 5 at the end of this time during which the motor drives other parts (not shown), of the machine. The time of operation may be adjusted according to the rate of value added tax by adjusting the member 9 and hence the speed of the motor. The transformer may be omitted, as can the amplifier 10 if member 8 is a power oscillator. Motor 3 and its control circuit may alternatively be used to drive the turntable of a record player.
