PURPOSE:To enable a high-speed search to be performed by using a conventional speed-controlling circuit, by employing the signal obtained by frequency-dividing an FG signal for speed control in the high-speed search. CONSTITUTION:A frequency-dividing circuit 10 frequency-divides the FG signal 5 from a capstan motor 1 according to the high-speed search signal in the mode signals 7a inputted from a mode selection input terminal 7. Said frequency-divided signal is supplied to a speed-controlling circuit 3, as a converted FG signal 11. In addition, in cases other than the high-speed search mode, the FG signal 5 is outputted as it is, as the converted FG signal 11. Thus, in the high-speed search, the FG signal 5 is frequency-divided by means of the frequency-dividing circuit 10 so as to be converted from a signal having a high frequency into one having a desired low frequency. As a result, a high-speed search can be performed by using a conventional speed controlling circuit without altering the FG frequency characteristics and the time constant thereof.
