Abstract

1396528 Electric connectors BENDIX CORP 14 Sept 1972 [15 Sept 1971] 42733/72 Heading H2E A connector for joining two tape cables, two circuit boards or a tape cable to a circuit board, comprises two base plates 1 receiving the cables 41, 42 and a plurality of spaced-apart annular contacts 30 rotatably mounted and adapted to connect to a respective one bared conductor in each cable. The contacts 30 are ring-shaped and resilient, mounted on an insulating shaft 20 rotatably mounted in grooves 14 of two identical housing parts 10. The base-plates 1 each include a groove 2 adapted to receive a respective tape cable 41, 42 and pegs 4 for locating and polarizing the cable. Holes 3 in the housing parts 10 and base-plates 1 receive assembly bolts 6. The grooves 2 can receive either an end or an intermediate portion of a cable or board. Grooves 71 are provided along the edges of a cavity in the parts 10 to space the ring contacts, and a screwdriver slot 23 is provided on each end 21 of the shaft 20 whereby the shaft and contacts can be rotated to remove any oxide formed on the contacts or cable conductors 43 without dismantling the connector.
