1394874 Hydrodynamic torque converters TSENTRALNY ORDENA TRUDOVOGO KRASNOGO ZNAMENI NAUCHNO-ISSLEDOVATELSKY AVTOMOBILNY I AVTOMOTORNY INSTITUT 13 June 1972 [8 July 1971] 27467/72 Heading F2C In a hydrodynamic torque converter having an impeller 1 and a turbine 2 the ratio of the length of an impeller or a turbine blade along the outer part 9 of the torus to the length of a blade along the inner part 10 is from 2.15 to 2À85. The ratio of blade angle at the inlet of the impeller wheel 1 at the inner part 10 to that at the output part 9 is from 1À15 to 1À45. The reactor 3 may be mounted via an overrunning clutch, and may be in two parts (Fig. 4a, not shown). The inlet angle of a reactor blade at the midline 12 of the fluid stream is from 60 to 110 degrees, the outlet angle is from 15 to 40 degrees and the number of blades is from 9 to 23, where there is one wheel, and the inlet and outlet angles of the first wheel of two are 115 to 135 and 90 to 110 degreees respectively, and 65 to 90 and 15 to 40 degrees respectively for the second wheel. The number of blades on the first and second wheels are from 21 to 35 and 17 to 33 respectively. The ratio of the blade angle at the inlet of the turbine 2 at the inner part 10 to that at the outer part 9 is 0À5 to 0À9.
