Abstract

1394762 Hand held cleaning devices BRICMAR MFG CORP 11 Sept 1973 [12 Feb 1972] 42688/73 Headings A4F and A4K A hand held cleaning device comprises a cupshaped spinner 36 mounted within, and extending across an opening 26a in a housing 10, the spinner 36 having radial blades 40 and being secured to the shaft of a motor 32 within it, and the housing 10 having a compartment 14 for batteries 42 for energizing the motor 32 under the control of a switch 46. The blades 40, which are of rubber or like resilient material, generate a flow of dust laden air through the opening 26a via a gap 24f between a lower edge 24e of the housing 10 and a surface to be cleaned over which the device is moved. Dust is carried by the air flow and by the sweeping action of the blades 40 (which do not however, engage the surface being cleaned) over a scoop 28 into a dust collector 16 having a perforated rear wall 16a covered by a filter 16b through which air is exhausted from the housing.
