Abstract
PURPOSE: To provide a suction port attachment for vacuum cleaner suited for use in cleaning carpet, in which there is provided a valve for switching the suction air stream selectively to a floor opening and a suction opening, and the valve is arranged to be shift-toward an air turbine to prevent intrusion of moisture into the body of cleaner that may possibly affect electric insulation of motor.
CONSTITUTION: In normal cleaning operation of cleaner, the suction port attachment of this invention is attached to the body of cleaner, and changeover valve 10 is placed under the cover 14 of main body 1. Air containing dust accumulated on carpet is drawn into the body 1 of cleaner through floor opening 5 and drives an air turbine 4. Rotation of the air turbine 4 is transmitted to rotary brush 7, whereby the brush 7 is also rotated to clean dust on the carpet. At the time of washing carpet with detergent, on the other hand, changeover valve 10 is placed between air- turbine chamber 18 and rotary-brush chamber 8, and it is directed toward rotary brush 7, whereby air hole is closed completely by the force of suction air stream. Foaming detergent with foaming brush 11 and issuing the same from floor opening 5, carpet is cleaned by the roatry brush 7.
