Abstract

1394540 Regenerating photographic processing solutions KONISHIROKU PHOTO INDUSTRY CO Ltd 18 Sept 1973 [22 Sept 1972] 43706/73 Heading G2C In the regeneration and replenishment of photographic processing solutions, such as developers, bleach-fix and fixer solutions, the bromide ion concentration of the solution is reduced by contacting the solution with an insoluble bismuth compound such as bismuth trioxide, tetroxide, pentoxide or hydroxide which absorbs the bromine ions from the solution. The compound in particulate form may be added to the solution and then filtered off, or a bag containing the compound may be suspended in the solution or the solution may be pumped through a column packed with the compound. The bromide ions may be desorbed by treating the compound with strong alkali and the compound may be washed and used again. The treatment of lithographic, black-and-white and colour developers, bleach-fix and fix baths is described.
