Abstract
1393859 Blasting ICI AUSTRALIA LTD 26 April 1973 [3 May 1972] 19904/73 Heading E1F A method of loading a horizontal or upwardly inclined borehole with a pumpable explosive composition comprises locating the orifice of a pumping means hose at the collar of the borehole or at some chosen point within the borhole spaced from the borehole toe, and introducing explosive to occupy the borehole progressively from orifice towards the toe. When the explosive does not have such a high viscosity as to be self supporting in the borehole, the borehole can be provided with a stemming means either prior to or after loading. If it is desired to completely fill the borehole from orifice to toe a tube is provided to allow air to escape from the toe as explosive is inserted. Preferably slurry explosives are employed.
