1392900 Recording apparatus; speedometers KIENZLE APPARATE GmbH 17 July 1973 [28 July 1972] 34049/73 Headings G1J and G1K A tachograph comprises a housing 1 containing at least one measuring device for vehicle speed and/ or engine speed, and means 7, 8, 9 for recording vehicle operating data on a recording disc, and a housing 4 pivoted to the housing 1 and forming a part of the lid 3 of the housing 1, the housing 4 comprising a removable bottom plate 23 the outer face of which forms a support for the recording disc and on the inner face of which is mounted a clockwork mechanism 26 to drive the recording disc, a counter 18 to indicate distance travelled, and indicator elements 11 for speed and 48, 49 for time. The various components can be mounted on the plate 23 and tested before installation in the housing 4. A dial 5 1 in the lid 3 has an outer speed scale 52 and an inner time scale 52, and the indicia wheels 29 of the distance counter 18 are visible through a window 54. A warning lamp 40 which is illuminated at a pre-settable limit speed is viewed through a window 55. The counter 18 is driven via a hollow shaft 14, a universal joint 16, a shaft 15 and a worm 17 connected by gearing to the toothed rim of the first indicia wheel 30. The clockwork mechanism 26 drives clock hands 48, 49 and a drive hub 58 for the recording disc. The drive from the speedometer in the housing I to the pointer 11 is via an eccentric drive pin 13 and a shaft 10. The plate 23 carries holders 36, 37 for lamps 40, 41. Lamp 41 illuminates the dial 51. Pins 39 of a connector 38 on the plate 23 engage contacts in the housing I when the lid is closed, to supply current for the lamps and for winding the clockwork mechanism.
