Abstract

1392052 Kettles HOOVER Ltd 30 Jan 1973 [2 Feb 1972] 4953/72 Heading A4A A domestic utensil, e.g. a kettle, comprises a container body 10 which is closed by a cover assembly, the cover assembly having a peripheral skirt which over-lies an edge 20 of the container body, the cover assembly and body 10 being secured together by releasable securing means 62 which are accessible only from below, the edge 20 being the inclined upper wall of an annular recess extending around the upper end of the container body. As shown, the stainless steel body 10 of an electric kettle is closed by a plastics cover assembly which comprises a spout 38 with a steam guard 41, and a handle 35 on pillars 36, 37. The body 10 is formed with an annular recess 17 and an outwardly extending edge 20, the cover assembly including a ring-shaped member 50 secured between skirts 31, 32 and arranged to fit over the edge 20. The body 10 is held to the cover assembly by bolts 62 passing through apertures in the edge 20 and threaded into nuts 63 retained in recesses in the ring-shaped member 50. The joint includes a rubber seal 70.
