Abstract

1391734 Bags having stiffened bottom portions HAMAC-HOLLER GmbH 29 March 1973 [29 March 1972] 15196/73 Heading B8K A bag comprising a gussetted bottom wall (3, Fig. 3) and two side walls 1, 2 connected by welded seams 4, 5, has strips 10, 11 of material, of greater stiffness than the material of the side walls, secured one on each side of the bag at the bottom of the bag, the strips being welded or adhesively connected to each other at their ends in recesses 12, 13 at the bottom corners of the bag. The recesses are formed by cutting away portions of the side and bottom walls outside of converging weld seam portions 8, 9 which may be arcuate (20, Fig. 6) and join up with each other across the bag bottom, or straight (18, 19, Fig. 5) such that the cutaway portions are triangular or may converge inwardly from the weld seams 4, 5 and then extend parallel to these seams 4, 5 to the bottom edges of the side walls. The stiffening strips 10, 11 may be welded or adhesively secured to the bag at tops of the converging weld seam portions 8, 9 or the strips may be welded over areas corresponding in shape to angled recesses, Fig. 4.
