Abstract

1391258 Mould for an electroslag remelting process ASSOCIATED ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES Ltd 19 April 1972 [27 April 1971] 11709/71 Heading B3F A mould for use in an electroslag remelting process comprises a plurality of annular sections 5 electrically insulated from one another by annular gaskets 6. The mould sections 5 may be made of copper and the gaskets 6 of mica. When the mould is of the continuous casting type, the top section may be made of steel. The sections may be clamped together by bolts 9 and are cooled by liquid circulating through chambers 7. The mould is insulated from a base plate 3 by a mica gasket 4.
