1349619 Blast furnace coding boxes SIEGERLANDER KUPFERWERKE GmbH 29 Sept 1972 [21 Oct 1971] 44939/72 Heading B3A [Also in Divisions F3-F4] A cooling box for a blast furnace comprises an outer casing 1 formed wholly or in part of a unitary, deep-drawn, seamless copper box and defining a cooling jacket with an inner casing 3, both being attached to a base plate 2 carrying inlet and outlet bends 11 and 12. The casings are set in grooves in the base plate and are welded or soldered thereto. The inner casing may comprise a casting with integral ribs 4-6 or a deep-drawn box with welded ribs. The outer third of the outer casing may have a reinforcement attached to and enclosing it, or said outer third may be formed of a copper reinforcement welded to and extending from said outer casing. The outer casing may be made of metals other than copper reducing the durability.
