1390985 Supporting articles N E RENAULT 23 March 1972 [30 March 1971] 13572/ 72 Heading E2B [Also in Division F3] A mobile target assembly comprises a target 1, a plate 13 which is mounted on a traversible carriage 3 and, mounted on the plate 13 front and rear springs 8, 7, each of the springs being curved and having a pointed end. The pointed ends face each other and the target 1, is held therebetween. The target is held in equilibrium by a member engaging the same at a third point. In the construction shown plates 18 are connected to the front and rear of the target 1 to facilitate engagement of the points. The front spring is pivotally mounted on the plate and the rear spring fixedly mounted. The target 1 is also urged upwardly by the member which comprises a spring which may be an extension of the front spring (as shown) on a separate spring (Fig. 5, not shown). The plate 13 is mounted on the carriage 3 by a rod 14 which forms a movable plunger in a magnetic coil when the coil is activated. The lower end of the rod 14 is formed with a pair of diametrically opposed pins which run in respective helical guides 22 so that on activation of the coil 15 the holder is raised and rotated through 180‹. This takes place on reversal of the carriage movement so that the target always appears to be facing in its natural direction of movement. The carriage runs on rails from which current for driving the carriage 3 and coil 15 is picked up. The carriage may be driven by conventional or linear DC or AC motors and a diode is placed in the coil circuit so that the coil is only activated during one direction of movement of the carriage.
