Abstract

1390917 Reciprocating pumps JOSEPH LUCAS (INDUSTRIES) Ltd 5 July 1972 [9 July 1971] 32260/71 Heading F1A [Also in Division F2] In a hydraulic transmission in which a radial piston pump 10 supplies a motor 21 through flow and return lines 17, 18 respectively, the cam ring 14 which controls the pump delivery has its eccentricity varied in response to the fluid-flow, pressures on the high and low pressure sides of a restrictor 22 in line 17 acting on pistons 26 and 25 respectively which in turn act on the cam ring 14. A spring 27 provides a bias on the cam ring, and the arrangement shown provides a constant flow-rate. The pump 10 comprises pistons 13 in bores of a rotor 12, and the motor 21 is a geartype hydraulic motor, shown driving an alternator 32. A one-way valve 31 is provided between lines 17 and 18, to prevent cavitation in the motor.
