Abstract

1390848 Cutting apparatus GAF CORP 12 July 1972 [12 July 1971] 32527/72 Heading B4B A cutter assembly, e.g. for use with a duplicating machine, comprises a blade 2 mounted on a support roller 3 for co-operation with a fixed blade 4, a pair of gauge rings 15, 17 mounted, one at each end of the support roller and adapted to control the degree of contact between the two blades, two springs 18, 21 for urging the blades into contact, and a solenoid 8 for rotating the blade to effect a cutting stroke. The guide ring 17 is ground to the same diameter as the effective diameter of the blade and the guide ring 15 is ground to a smaller diameter, so that due to the tension of the springs, the cutting blade 2 positively engages the blade 4 during the cutting stroke. Two oilers 19 are provided for lubricating the rings.
