Abstract

1390092 Friction clutch; clutch release bearings LUK LAMELLEN UND KUPPLUNGSBAU GmbH 15 May 1972 [14 May 1971] 22647/72 Headings F2C and F2L In a clutch wherein movement of a member 7, such as the inner end of a spring finger of a diaphragm spring, by a clutch release bearing 2 releases the clutch the spring fingers 7 are resiliently held between a rigid thrust ring 8 and a ring 9, one of these rings being positioned by a circlip 12, the ring 9 (in the embodiment of Fig. 1) being a Belleville washer. The shoulder 10 of the thrust ring 8 prevents centrifugal force dislodging the circlip. A further embodiment, shown in Fig. 2, dispenses with ring 9 and has the circlip 15 on the opposite side of the spring finger 7, of which some are bent towards the circlip 15 to hold the other spring fingers 7 resiliently against it. A shoulder 7<SP>1</SP> of those spring fingers here prevents the circlip 15 from coming dislodged. Other described embodiments (Figs. 3 to 5, not shown) have the spring ring 9 of Fig. 1, with the circlip on the side of the spring ring, alternative means being shown for restraining the circlip. The embodiment of Fig. 5 (not shown) has two circlips, one on each side of fingers 7.
