Abstract

1389447 Tobacco-smoke filter manufacture MOLINS Ltd 13 July 1972 [13 April 1971] 9303/71 Heading A2C [Also in Division B8] A quick-acting plasticizer is used in the manufacture of cigarette filter rods and the rods, after being made, are conveyed along a helical path for a period long enough to allow the plasticized rod to set. Suitable conveying systems, which include an elevator feeding the filter rods to a helical conveyer provided with a branch leading to a first-in-last-out reservoir which may be of the longitudinal stacking kind or a reversible helical conveyor, are constructed as described in Specification 1299174 (see Division B8). Two or more filter rod making systems may be placed alongside one another and have overhead conveyers by means of which any of the filter rod making systems can deliver filter rods into any despatch unit, along the lines indicated in Figs. 8C to 8F of the aforesaid Specification.
