1519293 Endless conveyers feeding cigarettes MOLINS Ltd 30 Sept 1975 40803/77 Divided out of 1519292 Heading B8A Pairs 71 (Fig. 6) of cigarettes joined by double length filter portions are conveyed by a drum 70 and are divided by a cutter (not shown) into two streams. These are fed to respective fluted wheels 75, 76, which rotate at different speeds to stagger the cigarettes, thereby enabling them to be combined by a ramp 78, into a single stream on a drum 79. They then pass alternately on to respective conveyers 83, 86, on each of which they build up into a stacked disposition. The stacks pass into respective shoots 88, 89, which combine at their lower ends, after the shoot 89 has turned through 180 degrees. A flap 91A is controlled by sensors 93, 94, responsive to the flow of cigarettes on the respective conveyers 83, 86. Alternatively, the flap 91A may be replaced by a fixed wall, the sensors 93, 94, then controlling the speeds of the conveyers 83, 86. Cigarettes may be hand-sampled from the conveyers 83 and 86. Other embodiments (Figs. 1-3, not shown), are identical to those described with reference to Figs. 1 to 3 of the Specification 1,519,292.
