Abstract

1389139 Measuring load on telescopic mast, extensible ladder electrically KLOCKNERHUMBOLDT-DEUTZ AG 12 June 1973 [22 June 1972] 27943/73 Heading G1N [Also in Division El] Apparatus for determining or indicating the load applied to an extensible turntable ladder 1 or to a telescopic mast comprises one or more electrical resistance strain gauges attached to a region or regions of the ladder which is or are stretched under load and electrical circuitry for indicating the magnitude of the load and switching off or reducing the drive to the ladder or mast. The gauge is or gauges are attached to one or both upper longitudinal members of the lowest ladder section 2. The gauges 9 are connected in a bridge circuit Fig.3 (not shown) with temperature compensating gauges 10 mounted so as not to be stretched by the load, and the output signal from the bridge is applied via amplifier 14 to a voltmeter 16 and comparison-and-switching device 15 connected to an electro-magnetically actuated switch 17 connected to the ladder drive means.
