1389029 Woven fabrics; shuttleless looms STATNI VYZKUMNY USTAV TEXTILNI 20 Dec 1972 [8 Feb 1972] 58705/72 Headings D1E and D1K A woven fabric comprises warp threads 7 woven with a number of weft threads 3, spaced across the width of the fabric, which are inserted simultaneously as loops whose ends are knitted with previously inserted loops to form wales 6, the loops being inserted in both directions so that the knitted end loops of one weft span those of other wefts to form overlapping weft sections 8', the weft loops of each section 8 floating through the wale formed by adjacent groups 8 and the loop in one direction being inserted in a successive shed to the loop in the other direction. The wefts are inserted by members 15 which permanently penetrate the warp sheet and are oscillated to lay weft loops when the shed is opened, the ends of the loops being knitted by warpwise reciprocating needles 20. The members 15 and needles 20 penetrate the reed dents which have larger gaps at the points of penetration. The members 15 are oscillated by a rack located underneath the shed and the needles 20 are moved in a curved path, to facilitate knitting, by eccentrics located above the cloth.
