Rotary type for cutting designs.-In a machine for severing shingle strips from a coated fabric roofing material, cutting-apparatus is employed consisting of a fixed shear-block 17 having cutting- edges 21, 22, Fig. 4, and a co-operating rotary cutter 24, Fig. 4. The shear-block is mounted for horizontal adjustment to and from the cutter. In a modification, shown in Fig. 5, the cutters are adapted to sever the rear edge of one strip rectilinearly immediately in advance of notching rectilinearly the forward edge of the next strip. The work is fed by rollers 12, 13 over a table 16 and the severed strips are removed by a band conveyer 41.
