Abstract

1388736 Cable clamps BENDIX CORP 26 June 1972 [25 June 1971 (3)] 29869/72 Heading H2E [Also in Division E2] A device for supporting and securing wires at the region in which they enter an electrical connector comprises a conduit 10 e.g. of plastics material, one end of which may be radially compressed to grip the wires, e.g. by a belt 50 of plastics material, Fig. 6 while the other end is non-deformable and mountable on the connector. In embodiments the conduit may be longer than shown and may have tapered slots or it may be formed without slots with the smaller end aperture being of a specific size to receive a predetermined number of wires and having the part 7 or parts 5 and 7 of a compressible material thus allowing usage with different numbers of wires. Alternatively the conduit may be formed with a rigid portion 10 and a cylindrical compressible portion, not therefore requiring slots, tightly fitting on to a shoulder 2 in the portion 10. In general the cross-section of the conduit may be of any shape, e.g. rectangular or octogonal, shoulders may be formed on the inside surface of the cylindrical portion of the conduit 10, to grip the wires, and axial grooves may be formed in the inside surface of the conduit thus restricting rotation of the cable.
