Abstract
1388294 Valves ALVASUM (ASEPTIC) Ltd 9 April 1973 [28 April 1972] 19801/72 Heading F2V The T-shaped casing of a pinch valve is split into two identical parts hinged together by hinge pins 12 to allow easy removal of a flexible tube 20 which is pinched by a piston 28 operated by admitting compressed air into a cylinder 40. The valve is connected to a pipe by means of a coupling collar 48 which engages in a groove 50 in the casing parts and is prevented from rotating by a key and slot arrangement. The end of the flexible tube 20 is flanged over, and engages in a circular recess in the end of the collar, to provide a seal. Alternative designs of collar (not shown) provide for different connection arrangements including coupling to pipes of different bore size. The open or closed state of the valve may be indicated by means of a reedswitch operated by a magnet attached to the operating mechanism. (For Figures see next page.)
