1388212 Direct measurement of fire dust concentrations BERGWERKSVERBAND GmbH 15 Jan 1973 [8 Dec 1972 9 Dec 1972] 2078/73 Addition to 1328075 Heading G1A The application is a Patent of Addition to Patent No. 1328,075 with the improvements being the extension of the wavelength range to 2,000 nm and/or measuring the scattered radiation directly (that is, without a comparison beam etc.). In an apparatus, Fig. 1, comprising an open ended tube 4, through which the atmosphere to be tested may pass, light (800 nm-2,000 nm) from a gallium arsenide diode 1 fed by an oscillator (15), Fig.2 (not shown), that has been scattered through an angle of approximately 70 degrees is received by silicon photo-diode 8 as shown. The photodiodes output is amplified, demodulated and fed to an adjustable amplifier for calibrating the apparatus.
