Abstract

1388137 Ink drop writers A B DICK CO 19 April 1972 [19 April 1971] 18198/72 Heading B6P An ink-drop-producing print head comprises a resonance cavity 26 having a narrow outlet orifice 28 at one end and opening into a chamber 40 in which a filter 39 is located, the ratio of the widths D 1 , D 2 of the cavity 26 and chamber 40 being not greater than 0À45 : 1. Piezoelectric elements 34, 35 cause periodic constrictions in the cavity 26 to influence the formation of droplets. The outlet orifice 28 may be formed in a jewel 27.
