Abstract

1388112 Voltage-multiplying rectifiers D C ADAMS 27 April 1972 [29 April 1971] 12209/71 Heading H2F A voltage-multiplying circuit structure comprises a series of plates 10<SP>1</SP> ... 10<SP>5</SP> of electrically insulating material each provided with two physically separate conductive areas, said areas being provided with a plurality of apertures for receiving the connector elements of parallelconnected capacitors, the effective capacitance of each stage being preferably graded with the smallest value adjacent the high voltage output end. The plates 10 may be of glass and have metalized areas 11, 12 at each end and on one or both sides. The capacitors C1 ... C6 may be provided with screwed rod or similar rigid connection terminals at each end, such terminals being passed through appropriate ones of the holes 13 in the mounting plates 10. Rectifying diodes D1 ... D6 are included. If the capacitance C6 in the stage at the high voltage end is C then the effective capacitance of the other stages may be 2C, 3C, 4C ... or 2C, 4C, 8C .... The multiplier may be supplied by a transformer connected to the mains or to an oscillator.
